-Using both film and digital single lens reflex cameras, students will learn the necessary skills to produce well composed photographs in complex new ways.

-They will be expected to already understand how to control focus, movement and blur, and depth of field.

-Students will gain a practical knowledge of exposure, film development, digital corrections, file management and darkroom enlargement while applying their learning through the use of the elements and principles of design.

-Students will also be introduced to the history of the science and art of photography and learn a process for photo critiquing. They will be exploring their own area/s of photography and career exploration, which is not class dependant.

Cameras are available for student use, although students who already own a manual single lens reflex camera may benefit from learning to make full use of their own equipment.

Evaluation will be based on the technical quality, completeness and presentation of studio work produced both for the student’s resource binder and for display.

Student sketchbooks are a requirement for success in this course.
